Crowns and Bridges

Teeth that are missing or damaged can have a real impact on your quality of life.

Whether you are self-conscious about your smile or you are having issues with being able to chew your favorite foods comfortably, dental problems can affect your enjoyment of life.

Whatever the reason for your missing or damaged teeth, Dr. Kyle Nishimura of Orange Grove Family Dentistry can restore your teeth to full functionality. Custom-made dental restorations such as crowns and bridges can give you back your reason to smile.

Call Dr. Nishimura today to find out more about dental crowns and bridges, including CEREC technology, which means your perfect-fitting dental crown can be made while you wait!

What Is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped shell that fits over the entire tooth, covering and protecting it. Each crown is made individually to blend in beautifully with your other teeth.

Crowns can be made from a range of materials, and each has its own specific advantages. Our patients love crowns made from porcelain. Not only are they strong and durable, they are also practically indistinguishable from natural teeth.

If you need a crown, Dr. Nishimura will discuss your options with you and recommend the type of crown that will give you the best results, based on which tooth needs to be repaired.

We use crowns to treat a range of common concerns here Orange Grove Family Dentistry, including:

  • Building up a tooth that has been damaged by grinding
  • Concealing a tooth that is badly stained or oddly shaped
  • Protecting a tooth weakened by root canal therapy
  • Repairing a tooth that is cracked or broken
  • Restoring a tooth that has been damaged by decay
  • Replacing a missing tooth as part of a dental implant

What Is a CEREC Crown?

With CEREC technology, you can now get a dental crown in just one visit! Say goodbye to goopy impressions, ill-fitting temporaries, and repeat visits to our office. If Dr. Nishimura determines that you are a good candidate for CEREC crowns, you will no longer have to wait to get your new tooth.

The CEREC procedure is simple: An optical impression is taken of your tooth using a tasteless powder and digital camera. The three-dimensional software creates a model of the needed restoration. We can adjust and customize the restoration as needed before sending the specifications to the milling unit located in our office.

Your perfect-fitting crown is made and ready for bonding in just about 15 minutes!

What Is a Dental Bridge?

Dental bridges use a combination of crowns and artificial teeth to replace one or more missing teeth. Crowns affixed to the adjacent teeth (or dental implants) hold replacement teeth (known as pontics) in the spaces left by the missing teeth.

The replacement teeth complete your smile and restore functionality so that you can chew foods with ease and comfort. With your bridge in place, you will have a new, complete, fully functional smile!
