If you have been living with crooked, uneven, or gapped teeth, you may have considered braces. But if you are like many people, the thought of a mouth full of the metal that comes along with traditional braces might be unappealing.

The good news, though, is that now many people can get the straight teeth they’ve longed for without the brackets, wires, and metal.

Invisalign is an effective, innovative solution that allows many people to get the perfect smile they’ve always dreamed of. Because Invisalign aligners are removable, you won’t have hassles with eating and you can brush and floss easily and effectively. And because they are clear, you won’t have the esthetic concerns that come along with metal braces.

At Orange Grove Family Dentistry, Dr. Kyle Nishimura can answer all your questions about Invisalign clear aligners. Let us show you how you can transform your smile in a matter of months with Invisalign.

How Does Invisalign Work?

At your initial consultation with Dr. Nishimura, we will determine if Invisalign is the best choice of treatment for you. If we determine that you are a good candidate for Invisalign, we will have you return for a record-gathering appointment where we will take custom impressions of your teeth along with photographs and x-rays, as needed.

Invisalign will then create a custom set of aligners that will fit tightly over your teeth. These aligners will need to be worn a minimum of 22 hours a day. The aligners will then gently shift and reposition your teeth as the days and weeks go by.

You will change aligners every two weeks, or as directed by Dr. Nishimura, until your smile transformation is complete. The entire process can take less time than traditional braces!

Because they are almost invisible, Invisalign aligners can barely be seen, even by someone who is sitting across from you, making them an attractive alternative for patients who don’t want the hassle of metal braces. And because the Invisalign aligners are removed for eating, there are no restrictions on what foods you can enjoy!

Is Invisalign a Good Option for Teens?

Teens are much more likely to get a boost of self-esteem from wearing aligners versus metal braces. And because they are removable, they are an excellent choice for busy teens who find it hard to spend the time needed for proper brushing and flossing with braces. Pop them in and go!

They also an excellent choice for athletes. The ability to remove the aligners and wear sportguards during sporting activities can help prevent serious injuries to the teeth, mouth, and jaws. Because there are no brackets or wires, the sportsguards will fit better and provide better protection.

Are You a Good Candidate for Invisalign?

If you have always been self-conscious about your smile because you have large gaps between your teeth, crooked teeth, or uneven teeth, you may be the perfect candidate for Invisalign.

Patients who have good oral health with no signs of gum disease are ideal for this innovative teeth straightening system. As long as you commit to taking care of your teeth and gums with regular brushing and flossing throughout treatment, you can enjoy the full benefits of Invisalign for many years to come!

Is Invisalign Treatment Painful?

As with any form of orthodontics, you can expect there will be some discomfort in the initial stages as the aligners slowly begin to shift and move your teeth. Usually the discomfort is mild and can be eased by taking over-the-counter pain medication. Keep in mind that we are moving your teeth!
