A dental crown is a tooth-shaped shell that fits over the entire tooth, covering and protecting it. Each crown is made individually to blend in beautifully with your other teeth.
Crowns can be made from a range of materials, and each has its own specific advantages. Our patients love crowns made from porcelain. Not only are they strong and durable, they are also practically indistinguishable from natural teeth.
If you need a crown, Dr. Nishimura will discuss your options with you and recommend the type of crown that will give you the best results, based on which tooth needs to be repaired.
We use crowns to treat a range of common concerns here Orange Grove Family Dentistry, including:
With CEREC technology, you can now get a dental crown in just one visit! Say goodbye to goopy impressions, ill-fitting temporaries, and repeat visits to our office. If Dr. Nishimura determines that you are a good candidate for CEREC crowns, you will no longer have to wait to get your new tooth.
The CEREC procedure is simple: An optical impression is taken of your tooth using a tasteless powder and digital camera. The three-dimensional software creates a model of the needed restoration. We can adjust and customize the restoration as needed before sending the specifications to the milling unit located in our office.
Your perfect-fitting crown is made and ready for bonding in just about 15 minutes!
Dental bridges use a combination of crowns and artificial teeth to replace one or more missing teeth. Crowns affixed to the adjacent teeth (or dental implants) hold replacement teeth (known as pontics) in the spaces left by the missing teeth.
The replacement teeth complete your smile and restore functionality so that you can chew foods with ease and comfort. With your bridge in place, you will have a new, complete, fully functional smile!
Are you having a dental emergency, such as a broken tooth? Are you missing teeth and want to have a beautiful, complete smile once again? Do you have older restorations with which you’re no longer happy?
